Diversity Scholarship

The Serve Marketing Diversity Scholarship focuses on broadening the number of traditionally underrepresented groups in Milwaukee’s advertising and marketing profession. Specifically professionals of Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx and Indigenous descent. 

Serve will award $2,000 scholarships to three deserving, graduating high school seniors from the Milwaukee area who are planning to attend college with a major in design, communications, business, advertising or marketing.

Eligibility

  • High school seniors with at least a 2.5 GPA who will be attending college in the fall.

  • Must major (or have plans to major) in design, communications, advertising, journalism or marketing in college

  • Must have at least one birth parent who is Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx or Native American

  • Currently reside in Milwaukee/Waukesha area

  • Apply by June 14th, 2024

2022 - 2023 Recipients

  • Angela Peters

    Angela is starting her first year at Prairie View A & M University after graduating from Messmer high school. Throughout high school she was very involved in several extracurricular activities including volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. She has a passion to learn and grow. She is majoring in communications and hopes to find a career in this field.

  • Terri Mims

    Terri recently graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School. She'll be studying broadcast journalism at University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Terri was very active in extracurriculars during her high school years including being Student Body President and a Future Urban Leader. She has challenged herself to follow her love of writing and push through her fears of public speaking. She hopes to inspire others to take on challenges and conquer their dreams.

  • Arissa Johnson

    Arissa is entering her first year at Marquette University after attending Golda Meir. Arissa has been involved in a wide array of extracurriculars including Volleyball, Hispanic Heritage Program, and link crew. She always works to be an incredible leader that inspires and supports others. Arissa will pursue a degree in business and communication and hopes to accomplish many goals.

2021 - 2022 Recipients

  • Kendall Bridges-Neal

    Kendall is starting her first year at Jackson State University after graduating from Golda Meir. Throughout high school she was very involved in several extracurricular activities. She has a passion to see and create change. It was through her volunteer work that she found an interest in studying communication. She is majoring in communications with a concentration in integrated marketing to continue her hopes of a career in this field.

  • Ayanna Santos

    Ayanna is entering her first year at MIAD after attending Milwaukee School of the Arts. Ayanna can’t remember a day she wasn’t drawing. She has a passion for design and bringing stories to life. She hopes to pursue a career in graphic design.

  • Jalen Gordon

    Jalen recently graduated from Marquette University High School. He is an incoming freshman at Clark Atlanta University. Jalen was very active in extracurriculars during his high school years including involvement in Jack & Jill of America and founding the diversity board at MUHS. He has a passion for advertising and communicating. He hopes to help people be informed and educated through this work.
